Two International Friendlies

ImagenNoticia108774In the next two weeks, the Colombian national team will participate in two international friendlies. The first one being on September 3rd against Venezuela in Puerto La Cruz  and the second one on September 9th against Mexico in Monterrey. This will give Colombia a chance to see where it stands as a competitive team and it shall give the group an idea of what needs to be worked on to gain improvement. So far, the players recruited for these two away friendlies are as follows:

Goalkeepers: David Ospina and Breiner Castillo; Defenders: Cristian Zapata, Mario Yepes, Ivan Cordoba, Pablo Armero, Camilo Zuniga, and Juan David Valencia; Mid-fielders: Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Yulian Anchico, John Javier Restrepo, Rafael Robayo, and John Viafara; Strikers: Hugo Rodallega, Giovanni Moreno, Falcao Garcia, Adrian Ramos, Dayro Moreno, and Carlos Darwin Quintero.

My thoughts on the line-up?? Well I believe that Gomez has been able to form a solid defensive line. As for the mid-field, I believe it still needs some work because most of the players recruited are young and unexperienced but we’ll see how things go. I’m liking the strikers for our team except for Rodallega. It seems pretty solid and hopefully they can get us some goals. Vamos Colombia!!

Off topic, but defender for Lech Poznan, Manuel Arboleda scored in the Europa League. He is playing well vs. quality opponents.

Let me say that I am Colombian by marriage only but I love this country and it’s people with all my heart. Until Colombia brings in an outsider with modern tactical experience, they will always struggle. They’re still playing with the same tactics from the great years of “Pibe” and Rincon. Watching them against Mexico in September shows they’re still trying to force the attack up through the middle. Not using the outer thirds for effective crosses into the box.
Start Rodallega, he provided so much energy in the second half of that game! He’s learned to play at a very fast work rate from his experience in England. Lets see what “Mis Cafeteros” do this week against Ecuador. Vamos Colombia! Una hooooooya para mi jente!
